Philippines President Rody Duterte is Indonesia for a 24-hour state visit, his first since he assumed office.

Duterte arrived at the Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport in Jakarta on Thursday night via Philippine Airlines chartered flight PR001.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte arrives at Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport in Jakarta, Indonesia right after his participation to the 28th and 29th ASEAN Summits in Vientiane, Lao PDR.

This marks his second trip to an Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member and is in Indonesia for a working visit from September 8-9, 2016. 

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte met with Minister Yasonna H. Laoly of the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights at the Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport in Jakarta.

Welcome Ceremony Istana Merdeka , Jakarta 9/9/2016

President Rody Duterte offers wreath at the Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery in Jakarta as part of the official functions in his Working Visit to the Republic of Indonesia. 

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte paid his respects to the national heroes of Indonesia when he offered a wreath in a ceremony held at the Kalibata National Heroes’ Cemetery in Jakarta.

The President was escorted by Maj. Gen. Teddy Lhaksmana to the gate of the cemetery upon his arrival before proceeding to the ceremonial rites. He was also invited to sign the its guestbook prior to his departure for the next engagement of his working visit.

Officially opened on November 10, 1954, the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery is the final resting place of Indonesia’s national heroes, mostly military officials and soldiers who fought and died for Indonesian Independence.


President Rodrigo Roa Duterte visited the Tanah Abang Market in Central Jakarta upon the invitation of Indonesian President Joko Widodo. 

The two leaders walked around the market as President Widodo briefly oriented President Duterte about the best Indonesian products sold in Tanah Abang. 

The Pasar Tanah Abang or the Tanah Abang Market is the largest trading center for textiles and apparels in Central Jakarta. Found inside the building are stalls with various clothing products for children and adults, shoes, bags, batik and accessories.
 
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Indonesian President Joko Widodo held a tête–à–tête at the Jepara Room of Istana Merdeka. Both leaders were accompanied by their official delegation. 


President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Indonesian President Joko Widodo signed a joint declaration of cooperation ensuring maritime security before giving their joint press statement at the Credentials Hall of Istana Merdeka. 

In his remarks, President Duterte thanked the Indonesian people for their warm welcome and said that his meeting with President Widodo has been very productive. With the joint declaration they signed, the governments of the Philippines and Indonesia will take all necessary steps to ensure the security in the Sulu and Sulawesi Seas. 

He expressed his appreciation on Indonesia’s support as the Philippines moves forward to its peace process in the island of Mindanao. He has also discussed with the Indonesian leader about air and sea connectivity, and measures to enhance people-to-people exchanges between their countries. 

The trade of illegal drugs was part of the meeting’s agenda and the two leaders have agreed to seek for ways that will intensify their cooperation against illegal drugs. 

“We will do our part in contributing to the aim of a drug-free ASEAN community,” said President Duterte
 

State Banquet hosted by the President of Indonesia 9/9/2016  

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte departed the Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport onboard a chartered Philippine Airlines flight PR001 bound for Davao City, capping off his two-day working visit in Indonesia. 

The President is returning home with the good news of intensified partnership with Indonesia after several agreements that he and President Joko Widodo made during their expanded bilateral meeting at Istana Merdeka. 

Sending off the President were the officials and staff of the Philippine Embassy led by Ambassador Maria Lumen B. Isleta.
