Second suspect in Adamson student slay dies in jail

After hitting the headlines last week for the gruesome crime they have committed, the two suspects of the brutal stabbing of an Adamson University student have faced death.

The first suspect which was killed in action after police conducted a follow-up operation, the second suspect has reportedly died while in prison due to 'medical complexities' including heart attack.

The two were the perpetrators of the gruesome crime in Taguig City wherein they stabbed a student for 18-times, a story that went viral in the recent weeks.

 Superintendent Oscar Albayalde, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief, said Reynold Clave was found unconscious by a fellow detainee at the Taguig City police station.

Clave was declared dead on arrival at a hospital at 10:45 p.m., Albayalde said. Initial findings show the suspect died of “medical complexities” including heart attack.

Clave was arrested on October 15, a day after after he and another suspect repeatedly stabbed student Nick Russel Orion, who was on his way home to Barangay Central Signal Village in Taguig.
CCTV footage of the crime showed the two ganging up on Oniot, with one suspect stabbing him multiple times.

Marvin Bernardo, the other suspect, was earlier killed after allegedly trying to evade arrest.

Bernardo was a former convict while Clave was an alleged drug dealer in Barangay Central Signal who was also tagged in several robbery hold-up incidents in Pasay and Pasig, police said.

The victim’s family earlier decried the lack of concern displayed by bystanders and motorists who witnessed the crime. Oniot’s father, Renato, said he cannot accept the fact that some people only watched while his son was being attacked.
